Uskov, Nikolay
Nikolay Uskov is a prominent Russian journalist and historian, born on August 25, 1970, in Moscow. He has made significant contributions to the media landscape in Russia, particularly as an editor and writer.
Education and Early Career
Uskov graduated from Lomonosov Moscow State University, where he studied history. He later earned a Ph.D. in historical sciences with a dissertation focused on “Monasticism and Monastic Reforms in Early Medieval Germany” in 1999. Following his academic pursuits, he worked as a senior lecturer at the university and contributed to several historical publications, including the “Orthodox Encyclopedia” and the “Great Russian Encyclopedia” [2][4].

In the early 2000s, Uskov transitioned to journalism, starting at Independent Media where he edited the website Estart.ru and became the editor-in-chief of Men’s Health magazine in 2002. He then moved to Condé Nast Russia as the editor-in-chief of GQ magazine in 2003, a position he held until 2012. Under his leadership, GQ gained prestige and became known for high-profile interviews and events, such as the GQ Man of the Year awards [2][5].

Orthodox Encyclopedia
